Emma started preschool this week, and was so excited! And a little nervous, but we've been talking about it and prepping her for months, and she even got to go to a "messy play day" class in her same classroom with her same teacher this summer so she was quite familiar with everything as well. Since she has been going to daycare for 2 mornings a week for the past year or so, she has also worked through all the separation anxiety stuff so I figured this would be a pretty smooth transition.
After a very brief circle time she immediately set to work on painting, and then some pushpin shape art. She was totally into it. I left after that, sniff sniff! She apparently had a good day and even started talking some on the playground (believe it or not, she can be totally silent when she is feeling shy -- and once she warms up, you cannot get her to stop talking!!!).
I am super excited to be a part of this new school and am hoping both she (and I) can make some cool new friends there. Hooray!
I remember when my 6-year old first went to school last year.
"Don't worry, Daddy," he said. "I'll still play with you after school."
